I cannot say I have ever been more proud of our team's heart than I was last Friday. While from an execution perspective we were far from perfect, our belief in each other and the team was incredibly strong allowing us to persevere through all the injuries and earn a great victory over the Brothers. It was a very hard fought game. CBHS played with great desire and had a very good game plan, but our ability to make key plays on offense and then our defense's ability to stop the run with consistency were key.
The Mercury Players of the Game were two juniors, WR Devin Perry and LB-DE-TE Trey Moore. Trey played three different positions during the game and did all of them well. Devin continues to make big plays when we most need them. Our Buzzard Player of the Week is Sophomore LB Will Hays. He did a great job in practice the entire week helping us prepare.
This team has gone through a gruelling 7 game stretch and we are very thankful for the open date this week. We have proven that we are capable of playing some great football against very worthy opponents. But we need to come back from this break rejuvenated and hungry to get better is we are to continue to improve on this season. While we have played well at times we have not come close to playing to our potential for 48 minutes.
