Very proud of our team last Friday as we came out well prepared and ready to play after a week off. I especially want to praise Coach Eggers, Coach Dowtin and the offensive line for their play which was by far the best of the season. We have some young guys up there and they have struggled at times but we looked very solid on Friday. SBA had a good plan for us when we were on defense and did a good job of keeping the ball away from us at times with short passes but we also did a great job of sacking the QB and creating turn-overs.
The Mercury Player of the Game awards this week go to senior Lb'er Andrew Renshaw and junior kicker/punter Gary Wunderlich. Andrew played a great game including an Interception returned for a TD. Gary continued his outstanding kicking this year putting all of his kick-offs several yards deep in the end-zone. Our Buzzard player of the week is 9th grader Tim Hart. Tim has to sit out this year but will be a great player for the Owls next year. He works incredibly hard each week in practice helping the scout team prepare our defense.
The win keeps us in 1st place in the region but we will need a win over Briarcrest to wrap it up. FIrst up though is a tough game with a very talented White Station team this week. More to come on that later.
