Frosh Team - What's next?

We met with the boys this morning to outline where we go from here now that their game schedule has concluded. If you have questions about what follows please do not hesitate to call.

1. Five of the boys have been dressing out on Friday nights all year and are members of the varsity team. as such they will continue in that role. They are Darian Bradburn, Colton Neel, MaLeik Gatewood, Brant Newman, Chris Turner

2. The rest of the guys can choose to continue on the practice squad, move into their other sport's phy-dev, or go back to PE for the rest of the semester.

For the boys who choose to stay on the practice squad we will practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday as we have been and they will be off Thursday and Friday. We hope most of the boys will choose this as it is a great time for us to keep drilling fundamentals. We do not have a spring football practice so this sort of serves that function.

We will meet with them on Monday so please help them with this decision over the weekend.

Monday Practice Plans

A reminder that practice on Monday (9th,JV and Varsity) will be from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. This should give most everyone a chance to get back in town. Our game this week with SBA will determine who is in 1st place in the region so we need a good week of preparation. Remember to let us know if you will miss on Monday.

9th Grade Start Time changed

The game this Thursday with Collegiate will begin at 6:00pm.

9th Grade College Meeting.

A reminder to the 9th graders that if you missed the 1st college meeting the make up is tomorrow. (Wednesday Sept. 7) at 7:00pm in the chapel. Make sure you are there!!

Game Week Routine

WIth the start of school and our first game we will settle into our afternoon practice routine. Our practice schedule is posted on the school calendar and is connected to this blog. The JV always follows the varsity schedule unless noted.

Jamboree for 9th and JV is on Monday at CBHS. We play CBHS at 8:00 with 9th grade and 8:30 with JV.

9th Grade Game Change

Next week the 9th Grade game with ECS has been moved to Monday @ 5:30 @ ECS. We will play a double-header like we did against Olive Branch with the Frosh at 5:30 and the JV immediately following.

9th Grade Notes

Our 9th grade team plays their final game this Thursday against BCS. This team has had an excellent season and these guys have improved tremendously. During the past week we have tested the boys on their speed and agility. After the game this week the boys will move to their winter sport if they play one or continue to practice with the varsity. We always encourage the boys to participate in another sport if they wish but if they do not play a winter sport we would love for them to get the extra work with the varsity since we do not do spring practice. As we discussed with the boys, this year is a learning period for them as we try to help them find their best position for the future. The team record at this level is not as important as watching the boys improve individually. After the season we will meet with all of the boys one on one and help them develop a plan to meet their individual goals as football players. Thursday's 9th grade game with Whitehaven now has a start time of 6:00pm.

9th Grade general practice schedule when games begin

This is our basic schedule during the week when games are on Thursday:

Monday: Some boys will play in JV games. Those that do not will practice from 3:45 to 5:00
Tuesday: Practice goes from 3:45 to 6:00
Wednesday: Practice from 3:30 to 5:30
Thursday: Game Night
Friday: Films, Weights 3:30 to 5:00
Saturday: Free
Sunday: Free

No practice during the Fall Break Holiday

9th Grade scrimmage at CBHS

The 9th grade will have a controlled scrimmage at CBHS on Thursday at 7:00pm. Boys should get there at 6:30. Scrimmage will last about an hour.
