"A" Team finished runner-up in the Shelby League Championships at Windyke yesterday, falling short by ONE stroke. Patton Orr defeated Parker Sexton in the playoff for the 3rd place individual medal.
Will Farmsworth won the 5th place medal and Hal Boyd garnered 9th place honors.
After the match several guys were pining about a stroke they left on the course here or there, and I hope this provides a lesson for the future. You have to play every shot in the moment and realize that each one counts towards something bigger than yourself. Golf has so many valuable lessons to teach us. We can never allow our individual frustrations to distract our focus from seizing our own best efforts for the task at hand, be it simple or complex.
I had a great time coaching these guys this year and it was fun to watch them grow as competitors. Yesterday was alot of fun as we closed the gap with our competitor to the east and almost upset them.
