The MUS varsity golf team culminated their 2007 season with a runner-up finish at the Division II AA State Tournament, held yesterday and today, October 2-3, at the Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro.
The Owls shot a 299 (+11) on Day Two for a two-day total of 595, which was seven shots ahead of third-place MBA. Baylor claimed their record fourteenth title, shooting 568 (-8).
MUS had three golfers place in the top-9 after the two-day event.
Sophomore Wilson Orr shot 74 (+2) on Day Two after having fired 72 (E) yesterday to claim seventh overall at 146 (+2). Junior Drew Frisby was one shot behind Orr after his 74 (+2) on Day Two as he claimed eighth. And senior Paul Billings finished in ninth after he had shot 73 (+1) today for a total of 148 (+4).
Junior Jordan Brown also had a good tournament as he shot 76 (+4) on Day One and 78 (+6) on Day Two for a 154 total.
And freshman Jerry Martin rounded out the team as he shot 163 during the two days.
With this tournament, Coach Greg King and the Owls finish one of their most successful seasons as they lost to only three teams all season, amassing an impressive 37-3 overall record. And with such a young squad, the MUS golf program is in great shape for years to come.

The MUS golf team prevailed over Bolton yesterday at Orgill golf course. The Owls totalled 161 to win by one stroke. MUS was lead by co-captain Jay Snyder with a 38, Max Barousse with a 39, Daniel McLeod and Mark Beanblossom each with 42. The Owls now have amassed a record of 33-2.
The LS Golf team won the Shelby League Senior Boys Division Championship yesterday at Windyke. We beat Briarcrest’s team score by 4 strokes & St. George’sby 8 strokes- avenging our regular season losses to these 2 squads when it mattered the most. Individual Results: Zach Olsen 34 (2nd place), James David Duke 40 (4th place), Jake Rudesill 42 (7th place), Thomas Farnsworth 46, Van Puttmann 48. Beautiful job in the clutch, men!
The MUS golf team performed very well yesterday to win the West Regional tournament at Orgill. The team score of 299 won by two strokes over CBHS. The Owls were led by both Wilson Orr and Drew Frisby with 73's. Wilson Orr placed 2nd on the all tournament team , and Drew Frisby 3rd on the all tournament team , in a playoff afterwards as Wilson birdied the first hole. Jordan Brown shot 76, and Paul Billings scored a 77. The state tournament will be October 2nd, and 3rd at Old Fort State Park golf course in Murfreesboro, TN.
This Thursday, September 20 the varsity golf team will play in the regional tournament at Orgill Park golf course. The tournament begins at 8:00 am sharp. The following boys will represent MUS at the regional tournament; Drew Frisby, Wilson Orr, Paul Billings, Jordan Brown, Jerry B. Martin. Jay Snyder will be the alternate. Typically, the MUS players have started between 8:00 am and 8:45 am.
MUS was well represented in the USJGT event this past week with Wilson Orr placing second with a two day score of 139, Drew Frisby with a 140, Jerry B. martin and Jordan Brown 147, and Daniel McLeod with a score of 151. Way to go!!!
The LS Golf team defeated Tipton-Rosemark and Woodland in a match at the Cordova Country Club yesterday. The highlight of the round was Zach Olsen's bounce-in eagle on #4 (a 350 yard par 4). Next match is Friday against ECS at Plantation across the state line in MS.
The MUS Varsity Golf Team was victorious over Briarcrest yesterday at TPC Southwind. MUS was led by Wilson Orr with a 38, Drew Frisby and Jordan Brown with 39's and Paul Billings shot a 42, for our other counting score. The team has amassed a record of 28-2.
Today we have an 18 hole qualifier at Galloway golf course with tee times at 1:00, 1:10 and 1:20 pm. After today's round the decision will be made as to how many players will be in the mix for the regional and state squad qualifier this weekend at Orgill in the USJGT event.
Tomorrow's match vs. Houston and CBHS at Memphis National at 3:30 pm. Players will be Drew Frisby, Wilson Orr, Jordan Brown, Jerry B. Martin, Paul Billings, Jay Snyder.
Greetings, we had a great event this past Saturday at Cottonwoods golf course. In a five team event, the MUS blue team won the title with a score of 314, on a difficult golf course. The MUS white team tied for third with a score of 328. We had three players make the all-tournament team. Paul Billings shot a 74, placing third. Wilson Orr and Max Barousse both shot 78, also on the all-tournament team. This week, we have a match Tuesday vs. Briarcrest at TPC Southwind. The match will begin at 3 pm.
