Preseason Meeting for Players
December 18, 2006
I would suggest that you get the following items before January!
1) Back-up Stick: heads break in the cold weather. Get a back-up stick & break it in!
2) Cold Gear: Invest in a good base layer to protect you against the cold. We will have plenty of work outs and practices in the January and February cold air. I suggest Cold Gear by under Armour or some other technical fabric! Royal Blue or Gray
3) Buy some plain Gray sweat pants.
4) Shoes for the old Astroturf. Running Shoes are the worst possible shoes to wear on Astroturf! Invest in some turf shoes… or basketball shoes, tennis shoes, cross trainers.
5) Invest in cleats. White cleats with Royal or Navy!
6) You need to own a jump rope and keep it in the locker room.
Third quarter Phy-D will meet on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the first week and for the remaining five weeks we will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays!
This year we will have a “Lacrosse Combine”. The combine will take place February 7 & 8. You will be tested in the mile, 40, shuttle run, bench press, and quick stick wall drill (Left & Right). This will be a determining factor for making the varsity and JV teams this year. You must be there.
Wednesday (2/7/07): Lacrosse Combine 40, Bench Press, & Shuttle Runs
Thursday (2/8/07): Lacrosse Combine Mile Time and Quick Stick Wall Drill (Left & Right)
This year tryouts will be on Monday, February 12, 2007. We will have two tryout sessions on Monday, February 12th and Tuesday, February 13th. I should be able to announce the members of the team by the end of that Tuesday. Lockers, Practice Uniforms, Jersey numbers, etc.. will be assigned on Wednesday, February 14, 2007.
Lacrosse Practice on Holidays
We will have a morning and afternoon practice on Monday, February 19th “Presidents’ Day” and an afternoon practice on Monday, April 9th “Easter Monday”.
SAT and ACT Dates
Like every spring the lacrosse schedule will conflict with SAT and ACT exam dates. Juniors: please schedule to take your tests in January, February, May, and June.
GOOD DATES!!!
January 27 SAT Reasoning Test & Subject Tests
February 10 ACT
May 5 SAT Reasoning Test & Subject Tests
June 2 SAT Reasoning Test & Subject Tests
June 9 ACT
BAD DATES!!!
March 10 SAT Reasoning Test (On the Bus to Orlando)
April 14 ACT (MUS vs. Pace Academy or Lovett @ MBA)
US LACROSSE Membership
Like last year, all MUS Lacrosse players are required to be members of US Lacrosse. Your membership lasts for one year so make sure you have renewed your membership. Returning players must turn in your membership information before Friday, February 2, 2007.
Coach what do I need to turn in?
1) You must turn in your membership number
2) You must turn in your membership expiration date
3) You must turn in physical evidence of both your membership number and your membership expiration date.
Coach what do you consider physical evidence?
1) A Xeroxed copy of your membership card
2) An email or fax from US Lacrosse that includes both your membership number and your expiration date.
But Coach this is unfair. What if I am not a member or my membership has expired?
1) You are required to be a member for both indoor and for summer league, so most of you are members.
2) I warned you back in December
3) You can now become a member online! http://www.lacrosse.org/membership.html
4) Send me the U.S. Lacrosse confirmation email
