MUS wins Boys Best of Prep - Male Division

MUS has won the Boys' Best of Prep, Male Division, from the Commercial Appeal, beating CBHS by 6 points.  Points are awarded to schools by how well their teams finish at district, region, or state competition.

If the MUS Swim Team had not won the County Championship and beat CBHS, MUS would not have won this award.  Way to go SWIM TEAM!!

Practice Updates

There will be NO practice this Thursday, April 9.

Next week, Monday April 13 and Thursday April 16 we will swim.

The following week the YMCA will be taking the dome down.  So, instead of swimming, we will play some ultimate frisbee on the field behind the library.

Varsity Team Awards

Most Improved Swimmer Awards were given to sophomores James Davies and Taylor Jordan.

Senior Tucker Witte was awarded the Spirit Award.

Senior Johnny Dillon was distinguished as The Most Valuable Swimmer.

And, the Coach's Award was presented to senior Forrest Wortham.

Honorable mentions were handed out to freshmen Obaid Anwar and Will Forsythe for Most Improved and seniors Robert Threlkeld, Robert Vestal, and Turned Morehead for the Spirit Award.

Captains Elected

Daniel Clark, Chase Harriman, and Emmett Montgomery were elected as Captains for the Varsity Swim Team next year.

Thornton Brooksbank and Jackson Roberts were elected as Captains for the Lower School Swim Team.

Congratulations to all these guys and THANK YOU to Johnny Dillon, Tucker Witte, and Forrest Wortham for their work as Captains of the Varsity Team this past year.

I Have A Dream Swim Meet

Memphis Tiger Swimming is hosting a swim meet on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29, at the University of Memphis.  It will benefit Make A Splash, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping to provide swim lessons for economically disadvantaged children. 

MUS would like to compete as a team, however, swimmers are responsible for paying their own entry fees.  Any swimmer, from either the Lower School team or the Varsity team, interested in competing, please let Coach Clark know by Tuesday, March 3rd.  laurie.clark@musowls.org

There will be an entry fee of $5 per swimmer, and each individual event will cost $4.  Swimmers may swim 4 individual events per day.  They may also swim fewer. 

Warmups start at 7:00am each day and the meet will start at 8:00am.  It should be over by noon or 1:00pm.

Varsity Party Date Change

The date of the Varsity End-of-Year Party has been changed.  It will will now be on MONDAY, MARCH 2 at 7:00pm.  It will still at Garibald's Pizza in Germantown.  Sorry!

Swim Team Parties!!

Lower School - The Lower School END-OF-SEASON swim team party will be on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:00pm at the Garibaldi's Pizza in Germantown.  It will cost $6.50 per person for the pizza buffet and drink.  Please email laurie.clark@musowls.org if you will attend and how many will attend with you.

Varsity - The Varsity END-OF-SEASON swim team party will be on Sunday, March 1 at 6:30pm at the Garibaldi's Pizza in Germantown.  It will cost $6.50 for the pizza buffet and drink.  Please email laurie.clark@musowls.org if you will be attending.

Varsity Season End

Six school records and one Shelby County record were broken by MUS swimmer(s) this year.  Alexander Kaltenborn holds not only the MUS record, but the Shelby County record in the 50-yard breaststroke swimming 28.80 at a meet on January 24. 

At the State Meet last weekend, Alexander reset the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:00.66.  Also at the State Meet, two relay teams broke records.  Johnny Dillon, Alexander Kaltenborn, Peterson Wellford, and Forrest Wortham broke the 200-yard Medley Relay record swimming 1:43.95.  Crews Wellford, Johnny Dillon, Tucker Witte, and Alexander Kaltenborn broke the 400-yard freestyle relay with a new time of 3:30.54.

At the County Meet Crews Wellford reset the 200-yard freestyle swimming a 1:51.74.
